Nurturing Idle Baseline

Recorded against local candidate 0.9.5-beta.7. These are mechanical baseline values, not target balance.

Representative plant

Calendula is the vertical-slice plant:

  • Growth requirement: 62 healthy ticks.
  • Tick duration at normal speed: 1.35 seconds.
  • Healthy first bloom: about 84 seconds.
  • Starting water: 58.
  • Comfortable water range: 30–74.
  • Water loss: 1.05 per tick.
  • Natural bloom duration: 86 ticks, about 116 seconds before other stress.

Current attention load

After watering to the comfortable midpoint near 52, calendula reaches the dry threshold near 30 after about 21 ticks, or 28 seconds. Maintaining four similar pots therefore approaches:

60 seconds / 28 seconds * 4 pots = about 8.6 watering decisions per minute

This matches the prior observed range of 7–9 required actions per minute before permanent automation. Additional harvesting, pest treatment, planting, soil work, orders, and navigation sit on top of that figure.

Current unattended tolerance

From the default starting water of 58:

  • Calendula leaves its comfortable range after about 27 ticks, or 36 seconds.
  • It reaches severe drought near 8 after about 48 ticks, or 65 seconds.
  • Stress then continues toward decline while growth becomes extremely slow.

The exact decline time varies because stress begins in the ordinary dry band and growth state may change, but the emotional signal is already clear within roughly one minute: unattended play becomes a rescue problem, not quiet anticipation.

Current bloom continuity

  • A healthy calendula may bloom after about 84 seconds.
  • Whole-plant sale and cutting are available immediately at bloom.
  • No minimum display or seed-formation period exists.
  • Keeping the bloom consumes freshness and sale value.
  • Natural bloom decline takes about 116 seconds at normal speed.

The rational loop therefore favors rapid conversion. The system offers little positive reason to keep a mature plant visible beyond visitor or pollination yield.

QA checkpoints

The local tester console now provides five isolated states:

CheckpointPurpose
Just plantedCount first-minute actions and inspect the initial promise
Mid growthTest the moment routine water checking returns
First bloomMeasure whether the reveal is noticed before conversion
Mature displayTest whether a pollinated, successful plant has a reason to remain
Idle returnCompare visible progress with the pressure created by returning dry

These states use ordinary normalized save data and do not alter Spring Cup event plants. Phase 0 adds no new persistent gameplay fields, so no save migration is required yet.

Phase 1 comparison targets

The calendula quiet-growth slice should improve all of the following without relying on the caretaker:

  • Unattended safe-growth window is measured in meaningful play sessions rather than under one minute.
  • Returning communicates growth before maintenance debt.
  • Active care produces a visible advantage without becoming mandatory.
  • First bloom remains visible long enough to be enjoyed.
  • At least one positive mechanic rewards keeping the mature plant.

Phase 1 local result

Local 0.9.6-beta.2 implements the isolated calendula slice:

  • Healthy growth now takes 360 ticks, about 8.1 minutes at normal speed or about 2 minutes at the existing 4x QA speed.
  • Water drains at 0.16 per tick, leaving the comfortable range after roughly 4 minutes instead of about 36 seconds.
  • Dry or unsuitable conditions keep at least 30% growth speed and reduce stress rather than accumulating death pressure.
  • Eight named stages replace the ordinary five-stage label sequence.
  • Up to six hours of absence advances the nurture slice on load and produces a dismissible return summary.
  • Ordinary greenhouse plants and Spring Cup candidates retain their existing rules.

Phase 1 deliberately does not yet solve mature-plant continuity; that remains Phase 3 after attentive-care momentum is tested.

Player-facing language should establish the new contract without explaining every number: leaving is safe, the plant keeps growing, and suitable care makes it faster. The exact advantage of attentive care belongs to Phase 2 and should be discoverable rather than presented as a dense tutorial.

Showcase-mode direction is recorded for Phase 4. Start with a deliberate view switch. Only test automatic entry after inactivity once the view is familiar, with one-click or one-tap return and independent notification preferences.

Phase 2 local result

Local 0.9.7-beta.2 adds attentive momentum to the isolated calendula slice. Needed watering or drainage, needed feeding, and aphid treatment count as meaningful care. The first valid action starts 60 ticks of 2.2x growth; actions during that window do not extend it. Distinct care types leave up to three cultivation records, with two or more types adding one flower at bloom. 等待照料 and 加速进行中 QA checkpoints make the contrast directly testable. QA links may include scenario=<id> to load the intended isolated save immediately instead of silently retaining an ordinary save.

Local 0.9.7-beta.3 adds 神秘鸡肥: nurture saves begin with three doses, replacements cost 18 coins, and one dose gives a single pot about three minutes of 1.6x growth plus a small nutrient refill. Another dose cannot be applied while active. Short 2.2x attentive momentum overrides the manure rate instead of multiplying with it.

Phase 3 local result

Local 0.9.8-beta.1 turns bloom into a choice rather than automatic plant removal. A new bloom has an eight-second reveal window. Afterward the player may cut flowers while retaining the plant, collect seeds once per bloom, leave the bloom on display for a higher bee chance, or sell the whole plant. The plot records bloom count, and plants with repeat blooms gain an eight-coin whole-plant premium per bloom after the first. The first experiment restarted retained plants at 78%, which proved much too fast.

Local 0.9.9-beta.2 corrects the seed experiment. Instant seed collection is removed. After completing 留种入门, the player may reserve one open flower as a seed head; that flower is immediately removed from the cut-flower yield, then matures over 900 simulation ticks (about 20 minutes at normal speed) while the retained plant may regrow. A head yields one seed, or two after successful observation or pollination; one plant can mature only one head at a time. Offline time advances maturation. This preserves plant continuity without letting one flower become both a full stem and a large repeatable seed payout.

Phase 4 local result

Local 0.9.9-beta.1 adds a separate full-screen greenhouse showcase. It reads the live ordinary plot state and renders pots, growth silhouettes, blooms, visitors, greenhouse framing, and a single return control. Resources, meters, cards, orders, alerts, and management prose are absent. Entry is manual; automatic idle entry remains unimplemented until the view itself proves desirable. Desktop 1440x900 and phone portrait 390x844 screenshots were checked during implementation.

The phone showcase now uses one horizontally swipeable bench showing roughly two plants at a time instead of compressing four pots into two stacked rows. This keeps the scene quiet, leaves a visible hint of more plants to the right, and avoids adding management navigation to the viewing surface.

Phase 5 integration result

Local 0.10.0-beta.1 makes quiet growth the default for mint and calendula in ordinary saves, including migrated saves. Both use the eight-minute healthy curve, unsuitable water slows rather than kills growth, meaningful care grants bounded momentum, and routine water/soil crisis badges are suppressed. Mint blooms age at one fifth of the old rate but retain the ordinary harvest-and-replant ending. Calendula alone keeps repeat bloom, seed-head research, display choice, and bloom history. Spring Cup plants and later species retain their previous rules for comparison.

Retained calendula now restarts at 35% after cutting and passes through 修剪恢复, 新枝生长, 再次孕蕾, and 再次含苞. This keeps the advantage of skipping germination without creating an almost immediate second harvest. Its visual remains a mature trimmed plant during recovery.

Local 0.10.0-beta.2 extends quiet growth to moonflower. Its healthy growth curve is twelve minutes rather than eight, with slightly gentler water loss, somewhat higher nutrient use, safe unattended slowdown, and the same optional care acceleration. Offline flower yield now uses each species' actual base yield and cultivation bonuses instead of a shared hard-coded value.

Local 0.10.0-beta.3 joins presentation and offline growth into one player-facing route. The former showcase command is now 安心离开; its subtitle says the page may be closed, the scene permanently confirms that growth continues, and a one-time guide explains safe slowdown and the return report. Closing the page never requires entering this mode first.

Local 0.10.0-beta.4 moves 安心离开 from the abstract speed controls to the greenhouse care area above the pots. Its live copy reports how many pots continue growing, blooming, or slowing down. All seven ordinary greenhouse species now share the safe unattended contract through explicit per-species profiles: mint and calendula 8 minutes, moonflower 12, wildberry about 15, hydrangea about 13, borage about 11, and cornflower 10. Spring Cup candidates retain separate event rules.

Local 0.10.0-beta.5 removes the hidden mobile showcase assumption. Four slots automatically fit on one small screen. Six slots use a wider, partially revealed horizontal rack and the persistent status explicitly says 6 个花槽 · 左右滑动查看. Desktop keeps all four or six slots in one row.

Local 0.10.0-beta.6 closes Phase 5 by making purchased automation work during true offline progress. The central tank refills and accumulates or settles water bills, installed drippers consume durability, and the soil feeder consumes compost exactly while the page is closed. The return report includes those actions. A deterministic six-species, twenty-minute checkpoint verifies safe growth, species yield, water cost, soil feeding, and save migration together.

Local 0.10.0-beta.7 begins Phase 6 with one deliberately narrow commercial caretaker. 温室大师 costs 750 coins for a 20-minute shift and operates at 3x quiet-growth efficiency. It harvests, fulfills the basic repeatable order, and replants mint and calendula, while rare plants, event candidates, and reserved seed heads remain untouched. Its fee, order revenue, water cost, and net result reuse the garden return notice. The hiring action lives beside 安心离开 and opens one compact confirmation sheet instead of adding another permanent management panel. At this price a four-pot starter greenhouse is not expected to recoup the fee; profitability is intentionally deferred to larger or more productive setups.

The master now owns the ordinary pot controls for the duration of the shift. A persistent gold status banner names the remaining time, and selected pots show a read-only caretaker explanation instead of watering, feeding, harvesting, soil, or replacement actions. Navigation, orders, the shop, equipment purchases, expansions, and research remain available. Real-time ticks use the same caretaker contract as offline progress: water and nutrients are restored promptly, existing aphids are removed, and the 3x rate is normalized against the player's display speed so 4x display mode does not silently create 12x commercial production.

Profit-first now means order planning rather than rapid direct sale. The first policy targets only the repeatable 日常花束: harvested mint and calendula enter material inventory, complete sets are delivered automatically, and the next planting is selected from the current normalized material deficit. Empty pots may consume owned basic seeds to join production. Incomplete materials remain in inventory after the shift. The report separates order count and order revenue. Rare plants remain outside this planner and stop at bloom.

Deterministic 20-minute scale checks produced 378 coins from a four-pot garden with one protected rare plant, 798 coins from six fully productive pots, and 1050 coins from eight. A 750-coin fee therefore gives net results of -372, +48, and +300. The intended commercial curve is now explicit: four pots are too early, six pots approach break-even, and eight pots make the master meaningfully profitable.

The normal shop already supports that scale through two expansions: four to six pots for 96 coins, then six to eight for 240. The catalog now names the remaining tier so the eight-pot commercial target is visible before the player reaches it. Exact caretaker profit remains a post-shift discovery rather than a forecast.

Expansion also opens the first mixed-plant ecology condition. With at least six pots, calendula and cornflower blooming together can attract a swallowtail. It records itself without adding a click and may bring borage seed, giving mixed cultivation a collection payoff that competes with the caretaker's narrow mint-and-calendula profit plan.

Retaining a plant does not permanently bind a pot. 清理并换种 is available from the selected-pot actions at any healthy stage. Confirmation removes the plant, flowers, visitors, and unfinished seed head without refunding the original seed; the pot's soil and installed equipment remain, and the interface immediately routes to seed choice. Mature sale and harvest remain the economically preferable exits, while clearing exists as a freedom and recovery action.
